Types of Cancer

There are almost 100 or more types of cancer but we are mentioning some major types of cancer which are most common in patients:

  • LEUKAEMIA

Leukaemia affects your white blood cells. These are an important, infection-fighting part of your immune system, made in your bone marrow.

If a patient if suffering from leukaemia, they produce an abnormal number of immature white blood cells which ‘clog up’ your bone marrow and stop it making other blood cells vital for a balanced immune system and healthy blood.Acute leukaemia comes on suddenly, progresses quickly and needs to be treated urgently. Chronic leukaemia develops more slowly, over months or years.

  • BLADDER CANCER

Bladder cancer begins when healthy cells in the bladder lining, most commonly urothelial cells, change and grow uncontrollably, forming a mass called a tumor. A tumor can be cancerous or benign. A cancerous tumor is malignant, meaning it can grow and spread to other parts of the body. A benign tumor means the tumor can grow but will not spread.

The risk factors for the bladder cancer includes, tobacco use, age, gender, race, chemical, Cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan, Clafen, Neosar) use, Actos use, family history, and Arsenic exposure.

The major symptoms includes the clot or blood in urine, burning or pain in urine, frequent urination, many times urinate throughout night, and lower back pain.

  • BREAST CANCER

Breast cancer spreads when the cancer grows into other parts of the body or when breast cancer cells move to other parts of the body through the blood vessels and/or lymph vessels. This is called metastasis. Breast cancer most commonly spreads to the regional lymph nodes. The regional lymph nodes are located under the arm, in the neck, under the chest bone, or just above the collarbone. When the cancer spreads further through the body, it most commonly spreads to the bones, lungs, and liver. Less often, breast cancer may spread to the brain. If cancer comes back after initial treatment, it can recur locally, meaning in the breast and/or regional lymph nodes. It can also recur elsewhere in the body, called distant metastases.

The signs and symptoms includes lumpy hard knot or a thickening in the breast or under the arm, change in size and shape of breast, nipple discharge which is certainly bloody, skin irritation such as puckering, dimpling, scaliness, or new creases, Warm, red, swollen breasts with or without a rash and pain in breast.

  • COLORECTAL CANCER

Colorectal cancer begins when healthy cells in the lining of the colon or rectum change and grow uncontrollably, forming a mass called a tumor. A tumor can be cancerous or benign. A cancerous tumor is malignant, meaning it can grow and spread to other parts of the body.
